The John Fairey Garden in Hempstead, Texas

We are so fortunate to have this wonderful garden on our doorstep!  It was formerly called "Peckerwood Garden", and is a 39 acre preservation/conservation garden containing over 3,000 plants, including many endangered and rare plants from Mexico, North America, and Asia.  Check out their website for details of their Open Days, docent-led tours and other information, including the history of the garden and its founder, now deceased.   www.jfgarden.org

A lot of damage was done as a result of Winter Storm Yuri, which delivered unprecedented freezing temperatures and snow!  During a Garden Club visit today, we saw that even now, not everything has bounced back, but there are a few signs of new growth on many of the plants and trees.  Unfortunately the Nursery was not open because, being a Garden Conservancy, they are required to keep enough replacement plants on hand to maintain the integrity of the garden.
