New culinary delights for the Christmas Season!
(Not my table, unfortunately - source unknown)) For Christmas 2020 I decided to try some new things, and with ham and turkey in mind found an ancient recipe from England "Christmas Jam", a recipe for Cranberry & Apple Chutney, and made up one for Cranberry & Apple Jelly. I had never used Cranberries before, but now use them in breads, cakes, even my "overnight oatmeal"! Christmas Jam is a bit like a relaxed mincemeat except it tastes better! It is customarily made in late autumn and around Christmas time when apples are plentiful, and in my opinion is a much better option than mincemeat in flaky little tartlets of mince pies (especially with a dollop of whipped cream on top)! It is also delicious on English Muffins or toast for breakfast - and even on vanilla ice cream! Here...
